A Perfect Day at the Punta Gorda Wine & Jazz Festival (Photos) (2/25/2015) - Saturday, February 21, was the headline event of 10th annual Punta Gorda Wine & Jazz Festival. The Wine & Jazz Festival has in the last few years attracted more and more national attention, and this year’s event saw people traveling in from other parts of the country to attend. It was a perfect day at Laishley Park in downtown Punta Gorda, with temperatures in the mid 70s, plenty of sun, and warm breezes coming off the Charlotte Harbor. Three of the country’s top jazz musicians, Mindi Abair, Dave Koz, and Nick Colionne, performed at the event. Mindi Abair is a favorite of festival regulars, having been the star attraction at the festival’s inaugural event ten years ago. Abair always excites the crowd with her distinctive style, blending smooth-jazz finesse with blues, funk, and R&B influences. Wearing one of his distinctive bright suits, veteran guitarist and singer Nick Colionne rocked on guitar and looked like he was having as much fun as anyone in the audience. Star saxophonist Dave Koz also played an incredible set, demonstrating why he is one of the most well-regarded saxophonists in the country. The highlight of the festival came when the three artists jammed together and invited the fans...READ THE FULL ARTICLE...
